The 6th ITS Hellas Virtual Conference Following five successful events, the Digital Conference on “Intelligent Transport Systems and Developments in Greece” will be held with the support of the European Commission Representation in Greece and under the auspices of the following organizations: Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Digital Governance, the General Secretariat for Research and Technology, the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship, the Hellenic Association of Mobile Applications Companies, the Hellenic Institute for Logistics Management, the Hellenic Logistics Association, the Greek Cold Storage and Logistics Association and the Hellenic Federation of Road Transports. This year the Conference focuses on issues related to the European goals and national aspirations and efforts for the transition to a sustainable and “green” mobility.
Intelligent Transport Systems is one of the most dynamic areas of innovation in transport with strong growth dimensions and significant benefits for the economy, end users and the environment. Smart mobility technologies and applications are the driving force behind addressing and achieving the objectives of the Europe Green Deal in the Transport field.
In view of the adoption of the new measures envisaged in the European action plan for a sustainable and green European economy, and in regards to the economic recovery plan and the health challenges of our time, the event focuses on the needs and benefits for the transport sector in Greece, but also on the opportunities for general reconstruction of the economy through the “green” transition to the digital age.
The 6th ITS Hellas Virtual Conference will be kicked-off by the President of ITS-Hellas and CEO of TELENAVIS, Mr. Konstantinos Haniotis, the President of ERTICO-ITS Europe, Vice President of ITS Hellas, Vice President of OASA and Director of ICCS/NTUA Dr. Angelos Amditis, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Giannis Kefalogiannis, the Mayor of Athens, Mr. Kostas Bakoyannis, the General Secretary Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy, Mr. Efthymios Bakogiannis, the General Secretary for Telecommunications and Posts, Hellenic Ministry of Digital Governance, Mr. Athanasios Staveris and the Deputy Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Greece, Mr. George Moschovis. Honoured keynote speaker will be Mrs. Claire Depré, Head of Unit for Sustainable & Intelligent Transport, DG MOVE, European Commission, who will speak during the session: «European and National Strategy and policies towards a Green and Sustainable Mobility».

This year’s digital event will host six sessions and interactive discussions which will be thoroughly examined by experts and professionals in the field, representatives of the authorities and the academic and research community, from Greece and abroad. The scope of the C-ROADS Greece Workshop, which will be held on Monday the 14th of December, is to inform national stakeholders (passenger and freight transport) and key players for the deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) in Greece with special focus on the test sites (Egnatia Pilot and Attica Pilot) and also consult them to latest C-ITS services. Within the frame of the workshop a round table discussion will be hosted on the presented topics aiming to share experiences and receive valuable feedback from the participants. The objective of the 2CeVau workshop, which will be held on Tuesday the 15th of December, is two-fold: on the one hand, it seeks to inform the participants on the relevant cyber-security challenges in (automated driving) corridors and discuss the so-far 2CeVau technical results. On the other hand, the workshop will promote the exchange of ideas, proposals and fruitful discussions among the research community and the intelligent transport systems industrial experts.
