ITS Hellas Vice President, Dr. Angelos Amditis, is elected Chairman of ERTICO-ITS Europe

With the unanimous vote of all the members present, Dr. Angelos Amditis, Vice Chairman of ITS Hellas and Director of Research at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), has been elected Chairman of the ERTICO-ITS Europe during the recent General Assembly in Brussels on June 20, 2018. Prior to his election, Dr. Angelos Amditis has served ERTICO-ITS Europe for many years on various positions on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. He has also participated in a number of Working Groups, most recently in the Working Group for Electricity and Automation in Road Transport. Dr. Angelos Amditis is a founding member of ITS Hellas and has been the President of ITS Hellas for years.
Dr Angelos Amditis is the first Greek Chairman of ERTICO-ITS Europe, the European Agency for Intelligent Transport Systems. ERTICO is one of the most important organizations in the field of transport, with great influence and access to multiple decision-making centers and one of the key formulators of their respective European policies. The election of a Greek researcher as the Chairman of ERTICO-ITS Europe is a great success both for the NTUA and for ITS Hellas as well as for our country.
ERTICO has 121 members from the public and private sectors. ERTICO-ITS Europe main focus areas are, amnong others, Connected & Automated Driving, Clean and Effective Mobility, Transport & Logistics, and Urban Mobility. ERTICO-ITS Europe also organizes major international conferences in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems, like ITS World Congress and ITS European Congress, in collaboration with respective international consortia.
